Timeline
At MakeMyHouseGreen (MMHG), we use qualified roofers to install your in-roof systems, and we provide a standard 2-year workmanship warranty for our installation. However, this warranty only covers our specific work and does not extend to your entire roof. We strongly recommend ensuring that your roofing team is fully qualified and offers a comprehensive warranty that covers your entire roof.
Pre installation
Before your installation, please make sure that you have the following in place;
- New felt or felt that is of a high standard and is not damaged in any way
- Battens are a minimum size of 25 x 50mm
- Additional battens (8 per panel) and nails (3.35x 65mm) are available for our installer to fit the required additions as per the manufacturer's batten layout.
Arranging an In-Person Survey
When building or replacing roofs, it’s best practice to conduct an in-person survey to ensure the array will fit as designed. If you are within our standard installation areas, our installers can carry out this survey for you. If not, please ask your roofing contractor to provide accurate measurements of the following:
- Total length
- Total width
- Any obstacles sizes and placements
- Any windows
We will be able to input these measurements into our solar design software to ensure that it will fit.

Scaffolding for Solar
It’s really important that your scaffolder is aware of the specific requirements for solar installations. The platform needs to reach up to the gutter line so that we can safely and effectively install the solar panels. This ensures that everything is positioned correctly and functions as intended.
Access Details
Please make sure to let the scaffolders know about any access points they can use. If there’s side access to the rear garden, be sure to mention that. Also, if the scaffolding needs to be brought through your house, it’s helpful to inform them in advance so they can plan accordingly.
Please also make sure the following items are included in your quote:
- Guard rails
- Safety gate
- Gin Wheel, with rope
- Edge Protection/handrails
- Scaffold Inspection Tags
- Ladders and any necessary guards
- Note any power lines that are attached to your property
Scaffolding Requirements for MMHG Approval
Once the scaffolding is erected, we will need the following information from you to confirm its suitability and approve it before our installers can begin work:
- A handover document
- Photos of the inspection tag
- Photos of the scaffolding in place (from various angles to show all elements)
- The passcode for any ladder locks
Timeline
To help everything go smoothly, here’s a simple timeline for your scaffolding:
- Construction should begin 4-5 days before the scheduled installation.
- Deconstruction should take place approximately 1 week after the installation is complete.
