How can you make the most of your Duracell battery with timed charging?

The timed charge feature on the Duracell Energy app helps you charge during cheaper tariff periods, so your battery is ready when you need it most.

Setting up a timed charge on the Duracell Energy app helps optimise your battery usage by charging during low-cost periods, ensuring it's ready when you need it most. This not only lowers costs but also reduces your reliance on grid power. Here are some key reasons to set up a timed charge:

Take Advantage of Cheaper Energy Rates: If you’re on a night-rate or variable-rate tariff, you can set your battery to charge during off-peak hours when electricity is cheaper. This helps save money by charging at the best times.

Ensure Enough Power: A timed charge ensures your battery has enough energy to get you through the day, especially when solar power isn’t available, like in the morning or on cloudy days.

Use Solar Energy More Efficiently: If you generate solar power during the day, scheduling a charge helps top up your battery when solar isn’t available, reducing reliance on grid power at night.

Maximise Solar Self-Consumption: By charging your battery during cheaper times, you can use more of your own solar energy and less grid power, making your energy use more sustainable and cost-effective.

Customise for Your Needs: Timed charges let you tailor the system to fit your household’s energy habits, so your battery is always ready when you need it most.

Ready to go? Here’s how you can set up scheduled charges using the Duracell Energy app:

  1. Open the App: Go to the Live Usage page in the Duracell Energy app.
  2. Access the Menu: Click the menu button in the top right-hand corner and select Scheduled Control.
  3. Set Scheduled Charge 1: In Scheduled Control, open Scheduled Charge 1. You can then set the start time and the duration (how long you want the charge to last). Please note, this is based on duration, not the end time (we understand that might be a bit confusing!).
  4. Select Frequency: Below the duration line, you’ll find a dropdown menu where you can choose whether you want the charge to happen every day or on specific days of the week (e.g. every Monday).
  5. Set Based on Your Tariff: You can set the scheduled charge times to align with your energy tariff. If you’re on a night rate or variable tariff, the app will show you the low-cost periods. Schedule your charge during those times to take advantage of the lower rate. For example, if your low-cost period runs from 23:00 to 03:00, you would set your scheduled charge to start at 23:00 and last for 4 hours, ending at 03:00. Important Time Format: The app uses a 24-hour clock, not 12-hour time. Be careful when setting times like 12-1am, as it will be read as 12pm-1am.
  6. Submit: Don’t forget to press Submit at the bottom of the page to save your settings! If you don’t press submit, your changes won’t be saved.

If you need any assistance with setting this up, feel free to contact Duracell’s support at 0800 716 434, and they can even set the scheduled charges up for you if needed.
